At the recent Special Stage, it was revealed that the fourth My Hero Academia anime film is in production. During the announcement, it was also confirmed that the anime will have an original story.

The announcement was made in a special stage event for the anime which featured appearances from its voice cast.

A new visual for the movie was also shared during the event, featuring Deku.

While not a lot of details were shared about the film, the teaser visual does give us a pretty good idea of what to expect.

The My Hero Academia stage event happened yesterday, August 6. There, the series’ main cast held a special discussion and a live performance.

Cast members in attendance include Deku VA Daiki Yamashita (also Narancia in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), Ochaco voice actress Ayane Sakura (the VA of Yotsuba in The Quintessential Quintuplets), and All Might VA Kenta Miyake (Zodd in Berserk).

Though not available in English, fans in Japan got to watch the stage event via a live stream.

While the in-depth discussion with the cast was a highlight of the event, for fans outside of Japan, the biggest news is no doubt the announcement of the new movie.

It was confirmed that the film will feature an all-new story by series creator Kohei Horikoshi. The film will also be made by studio Bones.

This is similar to the previous three My Hero Academia movies as they also had original stories that aren’t exactly canon. Though the second film is interesting as its story was Horikoshi’s original finale idea.

The previous films only had a gap of 1-2 years between them. Given that the latest movie has only just been announced, this is the longest gap between films for the series.

Still, it’s good news for series fans as, aside from the movie, the TV anime’s seventh season is also something to look forward to.

As for its story, while there are no details yet, the film’s teaser visual implies that the story will be set during the Dark Hero arc in Season 6.

The fourth My Hero Academia film has no release date yet. But given that there’s no trailer yet, we’ll likely need to wait until 2024, at the earliest, for its release.
