Mulan Will Be The First PG-13 Disney Reboot

It looks like the upcoming Mulan reboot won't be as kid-friendly as expected since Disney has revealed that the movie will be PG-13, making it the first Disney reboot to get the rating. To be fair, PG-13 movies are far from the most violent or adult movies around so this will be something most kids will be able to see, as long as they're with their parents.

Still, when you consider how the reboot will be a slightly more realistic take on the source material, which already featured warring soldiers, burnt down villages, and a lot of implied deaths, no other rating would have cut it.

Disney is pretty used to PG-13 movies actually, with most of their Marvel and Star Wars films getting that rating. Still, you'd think that the company itself would stick with the standard PG rating, especially since this is part of that Disney reboot lineup. That being said, the more Disney classics get rebooted, the more some of them will have to be PG-13 or more.

Can you honestly imagine a PG version of The Hunchback in Notre Dame? Yeah, I don't think so.

Will this make Mulan a better movie? We'll see. Most of us already like the animated classic just fine, even with some of the sillier elements. Granted, some of the live-action, erm, action looks pretty cool but if we don't get a "Be A Man" number, it's going to be garbage.

Mulan will be coming out on March 27.
