While other standalone shows like Loki and What If are already confirmed for a second season, WandaVision's status has always been in question. WandaVision was met with positive reviews by critics and fans and all of its casts members are now confirmed to appear in other projects in the MCU. However, a second season remains unannounced.
Now, WandaVision director shares a disappointing update with the show's potential second season. Mohamed Diab, who is now doing rounds in promoting his latest project, Moon Knight, spoke with Games Radar about doing more projects for the MCU.
Diab expressed his interest in doing a Marvel film in the future, “I dream and wish for a film. But with Marvel, the way they play it, it’s not like you graduate into a film. You can go into a film and come to a TV show and go back."
The director continued by confirming that WandaVision won't continue for a second season. Diab explained, "It’s like a crazy world. Even with the successful shows, like WandaVision, they’re not doing season two. She jumped into a film, maybe she’s going to come back or not. I don’t know. And that’s exciting."
Speaking of Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, the character had fully evolved after the events of WandaVision. Wanda had appeared in several MCU films after her debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron but remained as a side character for the entire Infinity Saga. Now that Wanda had finally developed into her comics counterpart, The Scarlett Witch, and is now receiving the spotlight for a substantial role for the Multiverse, we'll definitely see more of the fan-favorite heroine.
Wanda is now set to join Doctor Strange in the upcoming sequel, Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness. However, it looks Wanda will be the big bad for the Doctor Strange sequel after recent reports claim that Wanda will be antagonizing Doctor Strange together with Wong and the MCU newcomer, America Chavez while looking for her sons from WandaVision, Billy and Tommy.
WandaVision is streaming in Disney+ and Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness will premiere in theaters on May 6.
