Netflix continues to strengthen its anime lineup. Aside from releasing exclusive anime shows like Record of Ragnarok, Netflix also recently added all the episodes of the classic thriller anime series Monster.
While Netflix added the first half of the series back in January, all 74 episodes of the anime are finally available on the platform in over 30 countries around the world.
Monster: Naoki Urasawa’s Classic Thriller
The Monster anime aired in the early 2000s and was made by Madhouse during the studio’s heyday. While the anime was popular, the manga source material was also well-known even before the anime adaptation.
After all, it is the manga series that made creator Naoki Urasawa renowned internationally.
At this point, Urasawa is among the most praised and respected manga artists. This is thanks not only to Monster but also to his other titles such as the sci-fi manga series 20th Century Boys.
He is also known for Pluto, which reinterprets Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy into a murder mystery.
As for Monster, the series follows Dr. Kenzo Tenma, a Japanese surgeon living in Dusseldorf, Germany.
His life turns upside down as he gets entangled with Johan Liebert, a former patient of his who has become a serial killer.
It has been nearly two decades now since the anime’s run ended, yet Monster is still among the most acclaimed shows by anime fans.
On MyAnimeList, the series is the 25th highest-rated anime of all time.
