Hasbro has apparently completed 52 episodes of Micronauts' animated show, which former head writer Eric Rogers recently confirmed, and fans are furious at the abrupt cancelation of the long-awaited series.
52-Episode Micronauts Show was Shelved At Hasbro, Head Writer Reveals
As early as December 2017, a Micronauts film was already confirmed for production and slated for theatrical release, but the journey wasn't easy for it to come to fruition.
Paramount picked out a 2020 theatrical release for a G.I. Joe film and 2021 for Dungeons & Dragons, while a live-action Micronauts was set to open seven months after G.I. Joe's March 2020 release (slated for October 2020).
When that didn't push through, Mego's beloved toy franchise since 1976 eventually transformed into an animated series in January 2018, set to launch sometime in 2019.
However, Micronauts never did come to our screens. What gives?
Recently, the head writer for Micronauts Eric Rogers (Angry Birds: Mysterious Island, Futurama) revealed that the series has been finished since January 2020:
"52 half hours fully produced. Ask Hasbro what they're doing with it because no one there will tell me."
The animated show was initially slated for 26 episodes (not 52) with a 22-minute run each, the program aimed at kids ages 6-11.
"It's [been] almost 5 years since we finished," Rogers added, stating that Hasbro has not gotten back to him about the progress, "Tell me you canned it. It's a tax write-off. You lost it on the train like the Beastie Boys did with Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1. But... nothing? Yeah... no."
Unfortunately, the studio has not addressed Rogers' concerns about the animated series that never saw daylight, which infuriated fans even more for not being able to see the potential Micronauts could have had in 2020.

Fans are Furious At Animation Studio's Scrapped Delays
Releasing an animated series along with the live-action film was a common habit for Hasbro, a similar strategy they dealt with Transformers: Animated which aired five months after 2007's Transformers in theaters.
So, it remains to be seen what happened to the 52 scrapped episodes of Micronauts.
The studio has yet to confirm nor deny the statement, but this doesn't stop Micronauts fans from expressing their disappointment at not only missing out on their childhood favorite but seemingly dismissing the hard work animators put in on an animation that was never released.
