Former First Lady Michelle Obama revealed one thing she hated about her husband, Barack Obama, in the debut episode of her new podcast, IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson, which she co-hosts with her brother.
Amid speculation that their marriage is on the rocks and rumors that Barack is dating Jennifer Aniston, Michelle playfully called out the former president for his tendency to run late.
An Annoying Habit
Michelle admitted that Barack’s habit of always being behind schedule often got on her nerves.
“Barack, you know, he had to adjust to what on time was for me,” she told Craig.
The sports executive tried to defend his brother-in-law by referencing his Hawaiian roots for his lack of punctuality.
“Because he was on that island time,” he quipped.
But that didn’t stop Michelle from recalling that every time they had to leave, she would notice how her spouse would go to the bathroom and do other things that could make them late.
“I was like, ‘Dude, a 3 o’clock departure means you’ve done all that,’ you know, it’s like, don’t start looking for your glasses at the 3 o’clock departure,” she explained.
Despite the complaint, Michelle gave Barack the credit for correcting his ways. He has already shown improvements in their 30-year marriage, though it comes with a warning that “you must adjust.”
And Barack is not the only one who knows Michelle hates to be late. Their daughters, Malia (26) and Sasha (23) are fully aware that their mom likes to be on time.
Thus, they are all “early” whenever they are “doing anything” with her.
“They’ve learned how to snap to it,” Michelle continued.
The Divorce Rumors
Michelle’s revelation comes amid ongoing rumors that she and Barack have quietly separated.
Divorce speculation has been circulating for months and has intensified due to Michelle’s absence from several high-profile events alongside Barack, including President Jimmy Carter’s funeral in December 2024 and Donald Trump’s inauguration in January.
Insiders told Page Six that Michelle has already “checked out” of her life in Washington, D.C., is “fed up with the political circus,” and “pretending everything is okay with Barack all the time.”
“They don’t pretend that they have this Camelot relationship,” a source allegedly close to the couple claimed. “They’re not trying to present that they’re this magical couple.”
To make matters worse, some social media users have linked Jennifer Aniston’s name to Michelle and Barack’s marital woes, suggesting she might have something to do with their alleged separation.
The speculations began when Who? Weekly podcast hinted at their secret affair, followed by an article by InTouch titled The Truth About Jen & Barack.
And though Jennifer already dismissed the claims during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, calling them “some cheesy tabloid makeup story,” a leaked DM shared on X by user Melanie King claimed the actress herself allegedly confirmed her romance with Barack.
“At a gathering with Jennifer’s friends, the affair came up casually—Jennifer herself admitted it,” the insider said. “They were sitting with a psychic, which makes it sound surreal, but it’s definitely not a secret among her closest friends.”
However, fans should only take this assumption with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed yet. In fact, despite the rumors, the Obamas have shown a united front in public.
Barack honored Michelle on her birthday last month, sharing a photo of them enjoying a private dinner and calling her the “love of my life.” Michelle reciprocated by sharing the post on her own account, seemingly proving the divorce rumors are not true.
