Prince Harry and Meghan Markle couldn’t be more thrilled to announce their engagement in November 2017. At the time, the couple had already been dating for a little over a year since they were only introduced to each other by their common friend in early 2016.
Meghan Markle’s Eyes Reportedly Turned Dead During Her Engagement Interview With Prince Harry
Prior to their engagement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had already dealt with some controversies and issues. The Duchess of Sussex was already subjected to racial discrimination by the British press. In fact, the negative coverage of Markle became so bad that Prince Harry was forced to issue a statement urging them to stop.
Shortly after the statement was released, Prince Harry and Markle sat down for a joint interview to announce their wedding plans. According to body language expert Louise Mahler, it was at this moment that Markle’s body language shifted.
“She was a gorgeous young woman with great prospects, and then we see in the engagement photo that changes. Her smile becomes teeth, her eyes dead, her arms lock into her body, and she began doing this weird gesture where she pushes her hair back, which is useless, what a useless gesture,” she said (via Cheat Sheet).

Meghan Markle Developed A ‘Useless Habit’ Of Pushing Her Hair Back Since Dating Prince Harry?
Elizabeth Kuhnke, an author, also commented on Markle’s habit of pushing her hair backwards.
“It’s a physical and psychological calming gesture when feeling uncomfortable or stressed. It’s the adult version of a child clutching a favorite toy, a mother’s skirt, or a father’s hand. When feeling anxious and not knowing what to do or say,” she said.
Meghan Markle Tends To Perform On Stage When She’s With Prince Harry?
Meanwhile, Mahler also reviewed Markle’s body language at the Invictus Games in The Netherlands last year. She told Sunrise that the Duchess of Sussex is very confident and has a tendency to perform when she’s on stage.
“When she’s on stage, she’s so confident as a performer, turning as she speaks. The kiss, however, has all the rhetoric but none of the body language of someone who is actually affectionate. So, when Prince Harry walked up, you would think you’d lean forward and put your arms into the cuddle. Instead, she put her hands flat on his chest and stood bolt upright. He then kissed her, and she pushed him away and then moved,” Mahler explained.
Body language expert Judi James also analyzed Markle’s body language at the same event and said that the Duchess of Sussex turned up to motivate her audience.
“She arrived a little bit like a rockstar with Harry, they were the only guests that came down the stairs. She was doing ‘baby waves’ to the crowds, that’s a modest bonding wave rather than anything too regal. But her elegance and the way she was dressed in a stand-out, red outfit, definitely underlined ‘the Duchess had arrived.’ It was fascinating, Meghan displayed extremely high levels of confidence, and we know she does because she’s an actress, and she’s good at smiling, what we’d call ‘smile and wave,’” she told Express.
