Meghan Markle apologized to the U.K. court after she forgot the exchange of emails she had with her former aide Jason Knauf over the book Finding Freedom, which both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex denied having any involvement with.

Meghan Markle Apologized To The U.K. Court
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex strongly denied any involvement in Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie's biography about them titled Finding Freedom. However, their former communications secretary, Knauf, said in his witness statement that they discussed the book "on a routine basis" and "discussed directly with the duchess multiple times in person and over email."
Knauf said Markle provided several points to share with Scobie and Durand during a potential meeting which he also discussed with Prince Harry via email.
"I totally agree that we have to be able to say we didn't have anything to do with it," Prince Harry told him in the email via CNN. "Equally, you giving the right context and background to them would help get some truths out there."
The duchess admitted her shortcoming and made it clear that she didn't intend to mislead.

"I accept that Mr Knauf did provide some information to the authors for the book and that he did so with my knowledge, for a meeting that he planned for with the authors in his capacity as communications secretary. The extent of the information he shared is unknown to me," she said in his statement. "When I approved the passage... I did not have the benefit of seeing these emails and I apologize to the court for the fact that I had not remembered these exchanges at the time. I had absolutely no wish or intention to mislead the defendant or the court."
Markle added that she was unaware of the emails because the litigation had not reached the disclosure stage. Also, her lawyers asked to adjourn the trial due to her pregnancy.
She was in the first trimester of her third pregnancy and was feeling very unwell. Also, they were very careful because she suffered a miscarriage a few months prior.
Meghan Markle Broke The Public Trust After Apologizing To The UK Court
One of Jeremy Vine's callers named Michael called out the duchess for allegedly betraying the public trust.
"It's consistent. She's always been full of soundbites and the classic was when she first became involved with the Royal Family," he said per Geo.TV.
"They ran a documentary about her life on TV and she made a speech, or a speech was broadcast that she'd made, where she was praising her father for all his support through her education," he added.
"Later on, they showed another speech where she was at some women's organization, and therefore suited not to include her father, where she airbrushed the father out claiming she had to work to finance her education, which was a contradiction."
Michael added that the media were initially "favorable and supportive" of Markle. He also expressed his disbelief at Markle's claims that she forgot her correspondence with Knauf over the Finding Freedom book.
"And she betrayed the public's trust in her. How can you forget you had significant phone calls, emails, meetings, discussions on such a serious topic?" he added.
