Barry Keoghan revealed that he recently met with The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr as part of his preparation for the upcoming biopic.
Last month, it was officially announced that Keoghan, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, and Harris Dickinson are starring in the four-part The Beales biopic that will be released in theaters in April 2028.
Barry Keoghan Met with Ringo Starr to Prepare for The Beatles Biopic
In his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Keoghan shared that he recently met with Starr at his home as part of his preparation for The Beatles biopic.
He admitted that he was nervous during their entire meeting, and he "couldn't look" at him.
"It was sort of one of those moments where you’re in awe and you’re just frozen," Keoghan said.
When Kimmel asked whether he watched how Starr played the drums in the meeting, the actor revealed that he did.
"Yeah, I was... And when I was talking to him, I couldn’t look at him. I was nervous, like right now. He said, ‘You can look at me,'" Keoghan recalled.
"And again, you’re playing Ringo Starr. My job is to observe and take in kind of mannerisms and study, but I want to humanize him and bring feelings to him, not just sort of imitate him."
Keoghan also noted that Starr was "absolutely lovely" and they mostly "just sat in the garden, chatting away."
What is The Beatles Four-Part Biopic About?
Sam Mendes' The Beatles biopic will be an ambitious undertaking as it will consist of four movies, with each told from the perspective of a member.
The official logline teased: "Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary."
The director told the CinemaCon crowd, "I had been trying to do a film for years, but I finally gave up." He felt the "story was too big for one film" and a TV series didn’t seem quite right.
"There had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation... I can assure you there is still plenty left to explore, and I think we found a way to do that," Mendes promised.
