Wearing the character of Professor X/ Charles Xavier for almost two decades, it would not be a surprise if even Marvel Boss Kevin Feige would be interested in Patrick Stewart to reprise his role as Professor X.
Professor X was Patrick Stewart's even before it became James McAvoy's. If there could be three legendary actors who became most beloved by the X-Men fans, one spot would definitely be to Stewart with Ian McKellen's Magneto and Hugh Jackman's Logan.
According to Digital Spy, Stewart revealed in an interview that he met with Feige as regards the future of Professor X in the MCU. Impliedly, Stewart indicated that he is being courted by Marvel to reprise his role again in the future.
Unfortunately, and this will break the hearts of fans, Stewart decided not to take on the role as the film Logan changed the turf. Stewart said that had they not made Logan; he could've gotten into the iconic wheelchair of Professor X one more time.
With the same reasoning as Stewart, it may be justified why Hugh Jackman will not be reprising his role as Wolverine again given that both Xavier and Logan ended their arcs in Logan.
Admittedly, Stewart was moved by the story that Logan and Xavier shared in the film that they both decided that they are permanently saying their goodbyes to their beloved characters. Stewart added that it wasn't just the death of their characters but a farewell on the characters' part in them as well.
Even with the rebooted timeline, both Stewart and McKellen did an impressive job for their roles that left a mark on every fan's heart along with their younger counterparts McAvoy and Fassbender.
With Marvel Studios willing to absorb the X-Men franchise, some notable X-Men actors are already on their way into the MCU such as Michael Fassbender reportedly joining the MCU as a different villain and Evan Peters who is included in the cast list of WandaVision and possibly taking the role of MCU's Quicksilver after wearing the same character in the X-Men Franchise.
