With Thunderbolts* on their way to conquer the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans couldn't help but compare its team line-up to DC's own gang of unlikely misfits. However, MCU diehards are convinced that Thunderbolts* has the edge over the Suicide Squad.

Here's Why Fans Believe MCU's Thunderbolts Has the Higher Ground Over Suicide Squad

At first glance, non-comic book fans would think that Thunderbolts* is the MCU's answer to DC's Suicide Squad team-up of anti-hero misfits.

However, MCU fans point out that this is more than a "randomized" team of villains navigating their way through Earth-616. If anything, it's not anything remotely similar to what Suicide Squad hoped to achieve.

Suicide Squad formed a team of incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission from the government, their teamwork lies in saving the world from the mysterious and dark entities attempting to conquer their Earth.

Thunderbolts*, on the other hand, has a different goal in mind. While they are still considered a bunch of anti-heroes planning their own agendas, they are not a superhero team made to save the cinematic universe from multiversal chaos.

In this case, the Marvel Comics superhero team merely formed an alliance to trick the citizens into believing that these reformed supervillains were recruited by the CIA and US government to save the world.

Of course, in the original source material, the Avengers were declared dead after the 1996 "Onslaught" crossover event, leading the Thunderbolts to take advantage of faking their superhero mission to take over the universe.

The MCU still has Thor and the Hulk in existence, but their duties as the Avengers remain to be seen again as former members of Earth's Greatest Defenders.

As the official synopsis put it, Thunderbolts* is an"irreverent team-up featuring depressed assassin Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) alongside the MCU's least anticipated band of misfits."

This also includes Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes aka former Winter Soldier, David Harbour's Alexei Shostakov, Wyatt Russell's John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen's Ava Starr aka Ghost, Geraldine Viswanathan's "Mel" or Melissa Gold, and Lewis Pullman's "Bob" aka Sentry.
