Matt Bomer recently revealed that he turned down playing a Ken in Greta Gerwig's Barbie to do another movie instead.

The Emmy-nominated actor has starred in several acclaimed films and TV shows in the last few years that earned him award recognitions and a reputation as one of the respected actors today. However, he missed out on an opportunity to be part of a major box office hit.

In a recent interview, Bomer revealed that he was in talks to play one of the Kens in Barbie. However, he decided to turn down the Greta Gerwig movie to star in Bradley Cooper's Maestro instead.

Despite Barbie being a billion-dollar hit, he had no regrets about declining the opportunity as he had a great experience working with Cooper.

"Even though my part in Maestro was smaller, Bradley was so collaborative with me from the get-go," Bomer said.

"It was such an immersive experience that to have just flown in from London to film my scenes [in Barbie] really quick and fly back to London — I feel like Maestro wouldn’t have been the same experience for me."

Bomer added that his experience in the Cooper film had a profound impact on him and changed his approach "for probably for the rest of my career on film."

"It was a way of working that I’m really grateful that I got to be exposed to. I wouldn’t have, I think, if I were trying to just squeeze it in," he said.

Matt Bomer's Latest Project

Bomer currently stars in the Ryan Murphy-produced Hulu sitcom Mid-Century Modern alongside Nathan Lane and Nathan Lee Graham.

The series is described as "Gay Golden Girls" and it is the actor's first starring role in a half-hour comedy.

"I hope it brings a lot of joy to a lot of people. That's what we wanted. That's what I know I needed. I needed to laugh and come to work and laugh, and I hope it brings a lot of laughs to folks out there as well," he said.

He also described it as a show that can "go a little Norman Lear and handle some of the heavier stuff."

There is no news yet on whether Mid-Century Modern has been renewed for a second season.
