Marvel Confirms Yondu's Return in Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

Yesterday, Marvel Studios released the hilarious first trailer for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special which is slated for release next month and will feature a holiday-themed adventure with our favorite cosmic team alongside a special appearance of a certain actor named Kevin Bacon. However, it looks like a beloved deceased MCU character is now confirmed to appear as well.

As reported by The Direct, Disney and Marvel revealed in their official press release for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special that Michael Rooker, who played Yondu, is set to appear in the upcoming special as he is listed as part of the cast.

Rooker's involvement in the special has been previously rumored since Yondu was spotted on different promotional art which prompted fans to speculate that he'll make an appearance. Since the character has died in Vol. 2, it is very likely that he'll show up through flashbacks.

It is wonderful to hear a confirmation that Yondu will make an appearance in the special even if it's a flashback sequence since it's our chance to see the character again (sans the What If...? appearance) and also gives us a look even further on Peter Quill and Yondu's relationship in the past.

Besides Rooker, the cast list for the special also includes Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, The Old 97’s, and "introducing" Kevin Bacon. Newly-minted DC Studios boss James Gunn wrote and directed the special.

The synopsis for the special reads: "In The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, the Guardians, who are on a mission to make Christmas unforgettable for Quill, head to Earth in search of the perfect present."
