Knowing that the success of films like Black Panther and Captain Marvel has proven to Marvel the need for diversity and representation in cinema, it doesn't come as a surprise that rumor's been going around that Marvel is planning to give an LGBTQ hero a standalone film.
It turns out, these rumors might actually be true.
Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirms the rumors that's been running up and down the mill – an LGBT superhero has been "percolating" in the MCU along with other highly-anticipated projects after Avengers: Endgame.
ET's John Boone asked the Marvel producer which out of four specific projects was closest to the truth, naming rumors like Kamala Khan in the MCU, a movie about Nova, an LGBT superhero, and another movie from Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.
Feige's response? All of the above.
"I think all of those are percolating and -- let's put it this way: They're all percolating," Feige said. "I do want to keep the focus on this one and on the immediate future, but everything you just named are percolating, some closer than others."
This is definitely great news for the Marvel franchise. Of course, we might have to wait a while for more info about this openly gay male superhero that everyone's talking about. Right now, Marvel is busy closing an era with Avengers: Endgame, and everyone's eager to see what becomes of heroes like Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).
Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
