Marvel Might Have Plans For Captain America 4 After Avengers: Endgame Plot Hole

People have been asking several questions about things that happened in the Avengers: Endgame. For instance, fans were wondering about the mysterious teenager who attended Tony Stark's funeral (that was Harley Keener) or trying to figure out if Gamora will be back. However, the important question right now might be, "Is Captain America 4 happening?" Interestingly, the Russo brothers may have confirmed that Steve Rogers' story is far from over.

Joe and Anthony Russo recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the final few minutes of Endgame where we see an elderly Steve Rogers. The co-directors somehow revealed that the scene was more than just a Saving Private Ryan tribute.

"If Cap were to go back into the past and live there, he would create a branched reality. The question then becomes, how is he back in this reality to give the shield away?" Joe said. "Interesting question, right? Maybe there's a story there. There's a lot of layers built into this movie and we spent three years thinking through it, so it's fun to talk about it and hopefully fill in holes for people so they understand what we're thinking."

We already know that Steve stayed in the past to marry Peggy Carter but his new life may have been more than just domestic bliss. Joe Russo also teased on this by mentioning how Bucky Barnes had said his goodbyes to his old friend.

"He says, ‘I'll miss you.' Clearly, he knows something," Joe stated.

Could this mean that we'll be getting more adventures featuring Captain America and the Winter Soldier? It's certainly an exciting possibility. In the meantime, it's still unclear if Chris Evans will reprise his role after Endgame but we're definitely crossing our fingers.

Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
