Marvel Studios has confirmed Scarlett Johansson's behind-the-scenes involvement in the upcoming film Thunderbolts*.
The highly-anticipated MCU installment will assemble some of the fan-favorite characters from previous films and TV shows in the franchise including Black Widow star Florence Pugh who is reprising the role of Yelena Belova.
The teaser trailer was released today which gave fans their first look at the titular team-up in the upcoming film and the action-packed adventure that the MCU's unlikely heroes found themselves into.
Scarlett Johansson Serves as Executive Producer in Thunderbolts*
In the press release for the release of the teaser trailer, Marvel Studios confirmed that Johansson is involved as one of the executive producers of Thunderbolts*.
The MCU vet is serving in that role alongside Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, and Jason Tamez. Kevin Feige is the main producer.
A while ago, it was reported that Johansson is involved as a producer in secret MCU projects despite already making her swan song as Natasha Romanoff. Now, we finally know what one of those titles is.
Considering that Thunderbolts* is heavily connected to Black Widow, it's not surprising that this is the MCU project that she's attached to and perhaps she gave some input on how Yelena and Red Guardian will be portrayed in the film.
It remains unknown whether this would lead to Johansson's potential cameo as Natasha Romanoff in a flashback scene, but this suggests a possibility that it could happen since we know now that she has a major role behind the scenes.
Fans should wait for more news and updates regarding the film in the coming months leading up to its release in the summer of next year and find out more about Johansson's involvement as an executive producer of the project.
Thunderbolts* is slated for release in theaters on May 5, 2025.
