Mark Ruffalo Confirms His Role in Bong Joon-ho's Parasite Series

Director Bong Joon-ho just won big at the Oscars with Parasite, and for some reason, he's teamed up with HBO to make a Parasite series. Mark Ruffalo has been rumored to be attached to a part, and now he confirms it, and discloses who he could be playing.

Talking to ComicBook, Ruffalo reveals:

"We've met. I love him [Bong Joon-ho], I love that movie. I might be playing the father in Parasite on a television show. I would love to do it. We're sort of waiting on the script and all that, but yeah, that's pretty much true and in the works."

It's still unclear what kind of story Bong wants to tell with his series, but a lot of people think it would be ill-conceived if he just remade Parasite, but this time with an American cast. Then again, if HBO is confident enough to let him make a show around the same property, then maybe it could end up good.

Even if the series isn't a remake, I don't get the point of making a ‘Parasite-verse.' I mean, the movie is supposed to give us a look at society and class struggles already, and I don't think it needs its own alternate reality to tell the story.

Either way, we don't know enough about the story yet to make good opinions around it. Hopefully, Bong would give us some reveals later in the year; my bet is around July, at the time of SDCC 2020.

No release date has been set for Bong Joon-ho's Parasite series.
