Magic: The Gathering Pro Player Reid Duke Weighs in On His Hall of Fame Acceptance

Wizards of the Coast recently announced the election of Reid Duke to the Magic: The Gathering Hall of Fame. The professional American player received 94.28% of the vote and is the only player to be elected from the 2019 ballot. This past weekend, Duke took it to Twitter to share his Hall of Fame acceptance reaction and thank his supporters.

"Thanks everybody. I don't have the words to express how thankful I am for the love and support that I get --not just today, but every day of my life--from my friends, teammates, and fans," Duke said. "I wouldn't have made it this far without you."

The 2019 MTG Hall of Fame ballots were sent out to over 300-member Selection Committee and voting period was from August 20 through September 3. In order to be elected to the Hall of Fame, Players needed to be selected by 60% or more of the ballots cast.

Only Duke broke 40% of the vote, with Chris Pikula and Brad Nelson tied for second with 36.03%.

Duke made his debut on MTG Pro Tour at Pro Tour Amsterdam in September 2010. He has four Pro Tour Top 8's and twenty-three Grand Prix Top 8's with six Grand Prix wins on his belt. Duke was the runner-up at the 2013 Magic World Championships, and ranks 13th in lifetime earnings with $373,875.

The 2019 Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at Mythic Championship V, which takes place October 18-20 in Richmond, Virginia
