Magic: The Gathering Commander 2019 is bringing back familiar faces from the Weatherlight Saga and as the official previews for the upcoming product continue this week, we get to know who else will be featured in a Commander 2019 card.
Today, Wizards of the Coast revealed "Volrath, the Shapestealer". Check it out:
If you've been playing Magic back in the mid-90s, you've probably heard of Volrath before. He is one of the main antagonists of the Weatherlight Saga and he's been featured in several Magic cards in past expansions. He's known as the shapeshifting and phyrexinized leader of Rath, and now, the iconic villain is featured in a new card.
A 7/5 legendary creature that can copy any creature while being able to weaken a creature at the beginning of your combat looks like a good deal for Commander format. The art by Heonhwa Choe probably shows the best look at Volrath yet.
It looks like they're bringing several characters from the Weatherlight Saga. Over the weekend, they revealed "Gerrard, Weatherlight Hero."
Here are the other Commander 2019 cards revealed recently:
Strionic Resonator
