At Gamescom today, Wizards of the Coast has announced that they're partnering with Epic Games to bring Magic: The Gathering Arena to the Epic Games Store on PC this winter, and shortly after, they will also be introducing a Mac version for the game.
Epic Games will be the exclusive third-party PC download partner but fans will still be able to directly download MTG Arena on MTGArena.com. Those currently playing Arena on the Wizards platform will not be required to create Epic accounts, and players will still be able to play against each other regardless of where they downloaded the game.
In addition, Wizards of the Coast also confirmed that Arena will be available on Mac but they haven't announced an official release date or other details yet.
Magic head designer Mark Rosewater recently said that he doesn't play Arena often because of "a combination of not having a lot of free time and owning nothing but Macs." Maybe he'll spend more time playing Arena once it becomes available on Mac soon.
