In the upcoming Blumhouse production, AfrAID, Harold & Kumar actor John Cho stars alongside new faces like Lukita Maxwell and Isaac Bae. Here's where you may have seen Lukita Maxwell before AfrAID and who she plays in the 2024 horror flick.
Meet the Indonesian Actress, Lukita Maxwell, and Where You May Have Seen Her
Centering an artificially intelligent house assistant called AIA, AfrAID oversees Curtis (played by John Cho) and his family moving into their new revolutionary home.
One of his kids seems to be played by Lukita Maxwell, aka their teenage daughter named Iris, whose nudes get "mysteriously" leaked to their school.
Enraged, she confronts her boyfriend, and the moment he denies it, AIA makes sure he can "never hurt their family again."
The story transitioned to the disturbing essence of the flick: AIA would do anything to keep their family from harm.
The 22-year-old Indonesian actress is best known for being Delilah in the HBO Max series, Genera+ion, and as Alice in the Apple TV+ show, Shrinking, where she starred alongside major Hollywood celebrities like Jason Segel and Harrison Ford.
Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, Lukita's career kickstarted when she graced the stage at the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival. At the time, she won the annual competition after her moving performance of reciting the monologue from the classic Henry VI play.
Prior to Genera+ion, though, Maxwell played Jillian across 4 episodes in ABC's comedy, Speechless, and a short indie 2016 film, Where the End Begins, as Susan.
Coincidentally, her previous short drama role this 2024 in Manoa Valley had her depict Ben's friend, Iris.
Outside of Hollywood, though, Lukita keeps an online visual diary on Instagram as she holds a "deep passion for photography, art and design."
Lukita also happens to be the editor-in-chief of an online magazine called Sunstroke, where they post intersections of their identity, activism, and craft through written works and photography.
