The First Official Trailer for the Live-Action Avatar: The Last Airbender Series is Finally Here!
The visually stunning teaser opens up with a voice-over saying "Time is a funny thing. The past, the future, it all gets mixed up. There's only one way to keep it straight. Always remember who you are."
We then get a better look at live-action Aang (played by Gordon Cormier), as well as other characters like Katara (Kiawentiio), Sokka (Ian Ousley), and Prince Zuko (Dallas James Liu) among others.
But arguably the teaser's true highlight is the emergence of Appa's live-action counterpart and another one of Aang's animal companions in Momo. Check out the explosive trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender here:
First announced to be in development in 2018, the eight-episode series won't actually be a full-on adaptation of the hit Nickelodeon animated series. Instead, Netflix says Avatar: The Last Airbender will be a "reimagining" of the animated series, going the same route they did for the live-action One Piece adaptation.
Netflix has had a good track record when it comes to live-action adaptations, with One Piece recently taking the world by storm. Of course, it remains to be seen if Avatar: The Last Airbender will be able to replicate the aforementioned show's success but it can't be denied that all the momentum in the world is on Netflix's side.
Avatar: The Last Airbender begins streaming on February 22, 2024, exclusively on Netflix.
