Netflix has finally announced the release date for the upcoming reality competition series Building the Band.

The project marks Liam Payne's final appearance as he filmed for the series before his untimely death in October of last year. Since then, fans have been wondering whether the series is moving forward with or without him.

When is Building the Band Coming Out on Netflix?

Netflix unveiled that Building the Band will premiere on the platform worldwide this July 9. A first look teaser was also released, giving fans their early glimpse of the competition.

The series will have a weekly rollout. The first four episodes will premiere on July 9, and then three episodes will be released in the next two Wednesdays after.

Payne's involvement in the project remains intact as Netflix confirmed that he is one of the guest judges, and his family has reviewed his footage and given approval to his inclusion.

Netflix has not released any clips or first-look photos of Payne in the series, as well as the other judges.

What to Expect in Building the Band

As described by Netflix when the project was officially announced last year, Building the Band will "attempt to answer this question by forming the next great music group without any of the members ever seeing each other."

The talented singers who are competing will be matched with other contestants to form a band based on musical compatibility, connection, and, most importantly, merit.

With his experience as a member of one of the best-selling vocal groups worldwide, AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys will host the series. He is also providing support and guidance to the participants through each phase of the competition until there’s only one band left standing.

Nicole Scherzinger will serve as a mentor and judge in Building the Band, bringing her unparalleled expertise and personal band experience to the competition. She is joined by guest judges Kelly Rowland and Liam Payne.

Future viewers of the series were promised to expect "plenty of drama, next-level artistry, and unforgettable performances."
