A new film, The Lord of the Rings, is currently in development, and fans are already formulating theories about who will appear from the previous movies. Titled The Hunt for Gollum, the film will be directed by Gollum himself, Andy Serkis.

It is still unclear who might appear from the previous movies, but fans are sure that Aragorn will be important in hunting the creature formerly known as Smeagol.

Another figure who would likely participate in the hunt is the Prince of Mirkwood, Legolas. But what would the Elven prince's role be in the hunt?

First things first, the Mirkwood Prince is possibly one of the best warriors in Middle-Earth! He makes archery look easy, and his agility allows him to keep up with the chase.

The book also states that the hunt takes place near Elven territory, so Legolas' mastery of this terrain would be an advantage.

His Relationship with Aragorn and Gandalf Will Be Featured

In the books, Aragorn and Gandalf agree that they must capture Gollum to learn about the One Ring. While the two devise the plan, Legolas also has stakes in learning about the nature of the cursed artefact. Aragorn and Gandalf could always use the help of an invaluable friend in this hunt, and Legolas fits perfectly for the job.

Legolas is a prince of Mirkwood, possessing the foresight to identify potential threats. Befitting of a deadly archer! But more importantly, he knows that as long as the One Ring exists, so does the spread of its corruption.

By joining the hunt, Legolas is much closer to stopping evil from progressing.

Gollum Will Be Held in Mirkwood

At some point in the books, Mirkwood will be Gollum's prison. As the creature's captor, Legolas has to protect the corrupted creature from threats.

As Sauron's Orcs relentlessly smash through Mirkwood, the archer must match their tenacity for Gollum's safety.

The Hunt Will Result in the Fellowship’s Founding

The knowledge they acquire through Gollum's interrogation will lead our future heroes to unite to stop Sauron's looming threat.

As every Lord of the Rings fan knows, Legolas is important in Middle-Earth's history. It is exciting to think about the prospect that the Elven prince will be back in action in The Hunt for Gollum. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
