It has been two years since we've last seen Thor hail the big screens, specifically in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Now, there's no doubt that fans believe that the God of Thunder could reappear in the next Avengers movies, but Chris Hemsworth's latest "thank you" video didn't sit well with them. Here's what happened.

Chris Hemsworth has been busy with non-MCU projects like Mad Max: Furiosa, Transformers One, and Extraction 3. He has also been continuing his journey in his series, Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, where he takes extreme physical and mental challenges to inspire others while exploring his risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
But does this mean Marvel Studios is letting the God of Thunder actor go? Not exactly.
The speculation came from Chris Hemsworth's latest upload on his YouTube channel. Titled Thank You! The Legacy of Thor, you may already know how fans reached their speculative conclusions that he might no longer be in the franchise. That, however, was addressed by Hemsworth himself.
"I had a few people ask me about it, and someone on my team said, 'Ugh, we've given the wrong impression here.'" Hemsworth explained on The Hollywood Reporter that they didn't do any damage control despite the reactions, "But a lot was read into a little."
"I was [already off starting another chapter of this character, and this journey has been the biggest part of my career," Hemsworth continued, "So, [the video] was a moment of gratitude, and it wasn't anything else. But it definitely got misconstrued and perceived in a different way."
Get this: the video may have been Hemsworth's celebration for playing Thor for 15 years, but reading the caption actually unveils one more hint at his MCU future.

"Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life," Hemsworth's caption read, cheering for the 15 years he's held the hammer Mjolnir and then Stormbreaker as the God of Thunder, "But what made it truly special... was sharing it with all of you. Your passion, your cheers, and your love for this character have meant everything to me."
Now, here's the kick: "Thank you for making my journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe unforgettable... Next up, Doomsday!"
We all know that Avengers: Doomsday will not only bring back Robert Downey Jr. as the villainous Doctor Doom, but it will also reportedly collaborate the Avengers with the Fantastic Four and some of the most iconic X-Men teams from previous generations. And Thor? He's rumored to face his final showdown, aka potentially meet his demise.
But keep in mind that Marvel Studios has been gatekeeping the entire plot for Doomsday, so the God of Thunder's return with the heroes shouldn't be through his 'last heroic stance.' Stay tuned.
For now, MCU fans can expect Avengers: Doomsday to premiere on the big screens on December 18, 2026.
