Latest Detective Pikachu Trailer Gives Us More Psyduck

Though a Pikachu may be in the spotlight of the Detective Pikachu movie, we're also going to have him interacting with a Psyduck who looks to be part of the main ensemble. A new teaser posted up by Ryan Reynolds has DP talking to Psyduck, and it may actually hint at something important to the plot.

In the clip, we have Pikachu asking Psyduck about having to listen to elevator music to keep himself from getting headaches. I'm guessing it's this plot point that explains all the old music we've been getting in the trailers—much like how the music in Guardians of the Galaxy has something to do with the plot.

If we're following the rule of Chekhov's Gun, it's very likely we're going to see Psyduck unleash his full potential at some point in the film. Otherwise, why the set-up?

Admittedly Detective Pikachu has some serious competition in the box office what with Avengers: Endgame currently in its theatrical run. Hopefully, by next week, a lot more people would be open to checking out DP, seeing that the fear of spoilers has been forcing a lot of audience members to check out the movie as soon as they can.

Ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son, Tim, to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth Detective Pikachu. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to work together, as Tim is the only human who can talk with Pikachu, they join forces to unravel the tangled mystery.

Catch Detective Pikachu in theaters May 10.
