Following the recently aired supersized first season finale, one of the burning questions that Landman fans have is whether Demi Moore's character Cami Miller will have a bigger role in season 2.
Cami only made brief appearances throughout the first nine episodes, but that all changed in the season finale, as she was able to have more screen time and set up her potential storyline in the second season.
Will Demi Moore's Cami Miller Have a Bigger Role in Landman Season 2?
In a post-mortem interview, Landman executive producer Christian Wallace addressed Moore's future in the potential season 2 of the series following the events of the season finale.
While she may have a smaller screen time throughout the first season, there is a bigger opportunity for Moore's character to have her own showcase in season 2.
"Cami is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and we haven’t exactly gotten to see her, like you mentioned, really exert that power and influence, because she’s been in a very different role in the first season," Wallace said.
"And so, if the story were to continue, it would be very interesting to see what Cami’s role would be in this world when she’s the person closer to the top and is making these decisions in a world that is still mostly populated by men."
The executive producer added, "There are more and more women in the oil field, including women who are now occupying C-suites in some of the biggest companies in that industry."
"So Cami wouldn’t be entering that world alone. But it’s definitely more male-dominated, and so that would be just a very interesting role for her to play, moving forward. And especially having Demi play that character, who is also at the peak of her powers? I think that would just be kind of incredible to watch."
Considering that Moore is currently in the spotlight thanks to her recent Golden Globe win and strong Oscar buzz, there is more interest for the viewers to see her have a bigger presence in the future season.
Is Landman Already Renewed for Season 2?
Unfortunately, Landman season 2 has not been officially renewed for a second season as of the writing of this article.
While Moore mentioned in a May 2024 interview that the series has been given the green light for a second season renewal, Paramount+ has not released an official statement about their decision on the future of the series.
Star Billy Bob Thorton has expressed his hopes for the second season renewal and what he would like to see the series explore more.
"I would certainly hope that the family dynamic continues and deepens. I would also hope that we explore the weird position that Tommy is in with Andy’s character. Is he going home at night feeling guilty and wondering, 'Am I in cahoots with criminals? I guess I am.' How is this going to work out?" he said.
"Tommy isn’t dealing with henchmen anymore. He knew how to deal with them. But now he’s got a smart guy on the opposite side of the law who is his equal. We’re in a chess match, and I hope that’s explored."
