Demi Moore recently won her first-ever Golden Globe award for her acclaimed performance in The Substance during last night's ceremony.

For months, the veteran actress has been touted as one of the major contenders in the Best Actress category at the Oscars and there have been questions on whether she'll end up winning the trophy.

Demi Moore Wins First Golden Globe for The Substance

Moore won the coveted Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for her performance as Elizabeth Sparkle in The Substance.

She prevailed over other nominees such as Amy Adams (Nightbitch), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofia Gascon (Emilia Perez), Mikey Madison (Anora), and Zendaya (Challengers).

The 62-year-old actress was shocked when her name was announced by Kerry Washington and Andrew Garfield as the winner of the category.

In her emotional speech, Moore recalled how a producer from 30 years ago called her "popcorn actress" and made her believe that she would never get an opportunity to be awarded despite her films' box office successes.

She also admitted that she was considering quitting acting before she was offered to star in The Substance and noted that this was her first-ever award in her 45-year career.

Moore's Golden Globe win came as a surprise for awards pundits since she was not heavily predicted to take home the trophy and horror performances usually don't get award recognitions.

Meanwhile, acclaimed Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres won for her performance in I'm Still Here in the Drama side.

Is Demi Moore the Frontrunner to Win Best Actress at the Oscars After Her Golden Globes Victory?

With her Golden Globe victory, this poses a question now on whether Moore has cemented herself as the frontrunner to win Best Actress at the Oscars.

At this point, Moore is almost (if not 100%) certain to get nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars which would be the first-ever in her decades-long career.

If we look at the statistics, for the last 10 years, all Oscar Best Actress winners received Golden Globe nominations and eight of them also won in either the Drama or Musical/Comedy category.

Based on history, Moore certainly has a great chance to win the Oscar in early March and it would be interesting to see whether she will be able to maintain her momentum in the coming weeks as well as whether she will also win in the upcoming awards shows such as Critics' Choice, SAG Awards, and BAFTA Awards.
