Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet may be known for their steamy display of affection, but their little PDA at the Italian Awards show was not it.

The couple may have recently made their official hard launch after years of dating, but this might have taken another step back in their relationship.

Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner's Awkward Smooch in Rome

The couple attended the 70th David Di Donatello Awards ceremony in Italy, in which the Call Me By Your Name star was due for a David Award for Cinematic Excellence that Wednesday night.

Right before an excited Chalamet accepts his award, he makes sure to give his beau a big smooch in their seats. But the Dune lead actor should've taken the time to pay attention to Jenner before leaving her.

The awkward moment came along when Jenner was caught on camera trying to reach him for a second, only to have her boyfriend miss her lips completely, as Chalamet was seen already shaking the hands of his friends sitting behind them to congratulate his night.

"She went in for the double kiss, but he wasn't having it," one fan commented, followed by another who believed the second attempt was a simple misunderstanding, "The second one looked more like an attempt for a hug and not a kiss."

As expected, fans ended up swarming over that little miss caught on camera.

"The ICK I felt during this video," one Reddit user posted, as per The US Sun.

Others seemed to agree, "No chemistry whatsoever. And he can't even fake it," while another chimed in, "Ah, the kill pull away moment is so embarrassing for her."

The Couple Recently Made Their Red Carpet Debut

Curious fans hadn't seemed convinced of their relationship, despite being confirmed back in spring of 2023.

It didn't help that Kylie attended the 2025 Met Gala alone, with Chalamet posting to announce he sat back to catch the basketball game at home. However, her boyfriend made it up to her by making their red carpet debut at the awards show.

The newly debuted couple couldn't be more iconic, hand-in-hand, as they made their way into the venue in Rome. As Chalamet sported a black velvet suit, Jenner attended with a floor-length, fitted black Schiaparelli gown beside her man.

The couple did attend this year's Oscar's ceremony, though. In February, the Kylie Cosmetics founder delivered the big winning kiss to the actor, who was nominated for his role as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, only to lose the best actor award to Adrien Brody's The Brutalist portrayal.

Notably, the couple had been keeping their relationship low-key by attending special events separately, which they previously addressed.

According to an insider, Kylie couldn't be happier to support her boyfriend on the side. She was described as his "best friend" and "biggest supporter", and that she couldn't be happier dating the Academy-nominated star.

So, despite the unconventional set-up and their bumps along the way, the two appear to be content and comfortable in each other's company.
