The DCU may have found its Booster Gold as a recent report suggested that Kumail Nanjiani has been cast to play the beloved hero.
Fans have been looking forward to the casting news for the DCU's Booster Gold since James Gunn and Peter Safran announced that they are working on a TV series centering on the fan-favorite DC character.
So far, the details regarding the plans for the Booster Gold series are still under wraps, but the character is expected to be a major figure in the DCU alongside the other heroes.
Kumail Nanjiani Will Reportedly Play the DCU's Booster Gold
A recent report claimed that Nanjiani has been cast to play Booster Gold in the DCU franchise. He will debut in the Booster Gold TV series that is currently in development.
So far, DC Studios has not confirmed the Eternals actor's reported DCU involvement.
The planned Booster Gold series is described as an "outright comedy" that will focus on the titular hero traveling back in time from the 25th century to pose as a superhero with advanced technology.
Since Gunn and Safran's announcement of the project, we haven't heard any official updates yet regarding its development, but past reports have suggested that production is expected to begin this year.
If Nanjiani ends up getting cast to play the DCU's Booster Gold, it is an interesting casting choice since he's not the type of actor that most fans might have considered for the role.
However, he has proven in his role as Kingo in Eternals that he has the chops of playing a superhero. It helps that he is also a comedian which will be an advantage as a star of a series that will have a comedic tone.
For now, let's wait and see whether we will get a confirmation from Gunn regarding Nanjiani's DCU casting soon or if it will end as just a rumor after all.
