King Charles wants his coronation to be peaceful. So, he is reportedly finding ways to have Prince Harry and Meghan Markle around despite the drama they caused against the royal family in the past months.
King Charles Reportedly Asked For Archbishop Of Canterbury's Help
His Majesty doesn't want additional drama during his coronation. So, he asked for the Archbishop of Canterbury's help to persuade the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to attend his special day, Express reported.
The King reportedly wanted Justin Welby to strike an agreement with the Sussexes to be there at the Westminster Abbey ceremony on May 6.
However, Prince William was reportedly not on board with the idea. But the new monarch believed that Prince Harry and Markle's absence would be a great distraction than their presence.
The Prince of Wales was reportedly concerned that his brother would use the event to stage a stunt that would overshadow the event.
Royal Family And Sussexes May Have A Temporary Truce For King Charles' Coronation, Royal Expert Says
British journalist and royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti spoke with Us Weekly about the Sussexes and the royal family's relationship status ahead of the coronation. In his opinion, there would be a temporary truce for King Charles' coronation.
"I suspect that there are some efforts going on to try and make some form of reconciliation … I think because they don't want [family tensions] to upstage what's going on on that very important day," he told the outlet.
While both parties may agree to put on a united front, the expert believed it would be temporary because Prince Harry had done a lot of damage, and his family might find it hard to forgive him.
"Whether or not that's possible is one thing, and whether or not it's lasting is another thing. Even if they do manage to make some form of peace, [it] might be temporary. I think it's going to be extremely difficult for them as a family — and more broadly, for the nation and for the Institution — to forgive what's happened," he added.
