Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige addressed the set photos leak during the filming of Deadpool and Wolverine and how it was worth it in the end.

Back when the MCU film was in production late last year, set photos taken by paparazzi leaked online and it gave fans a glimpse at the titular heroes' adventure in The Void and some of the returning characters that will appear such as Toad.

While some fans got hyped by the leaked photos, it also caused disappointment since it spoiled some of the details about the film before the trailers were even released.

Kevin Feige Addresses the Deadpool ad Wolverine Set Photo Leaks

In a recent interview, Feige weighed in on the set photo leaks that occurred during the filming of Deadpool and Wolverine and was asked whether the outdoor shoot was worth it despite the exposure to the paparazzi.

He explained that the outdoor filming was done due to wanting to shoot in a practical location. Despite the leaks, he still felt that it was worth the risk.

"That was very important to us. We didn’t want this to be a green screen box for all of the locations. We want it to be out in the real world, and that always comes with potential tradeoffs," the Marvel Studios president explained.

"We were in a lot of secure locations and places that were far away from prying eyes — with the exception of drones. It was a new experience for me to have paparazzi drones flying over the set. Sometimes things look cool in a behind-the-scenes photo, but most often, they don’t look great."

Feige added, "I think people are savvy enough over the years to know that’s not what it will look like in the movie. That being said, Wolverine in that yellow outfit looks cool from any angle, drone, or shot through the trees."

In hindsight, the set photo leaks didn't give a lot of spoiler details about the film as there was no reveal of any surprise A-list cameos that they might be hiding or a major plot point that shakes up the narrative of the film.

It's also great to hear that the production team is committed to filming in practical locations as it added realism to its visual look and it won't look like they were shooting in front of a green screen, which is the criticism that some past MCU films have gotten.

It is exciting to see how it all plays out in the final cut, and how their practical location filming looks like when we see it on the big screen.

Deadpool and Wolverine is set to arrive in theaters this July 26.
