Kelly Clarkson has postponed the remaining shows of her Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions – The Las Vegas Residency for the month of August due to a family crisis.

The cancellation comes after she initially postponed her show on the very day it was supposed to begin in July.

While it was claimed that the initial postponement was because of her “health,” does it also have something to do with her family—especially now that it has been revealed her former husband, Brandon Blackstock, is sick?

Why Did Kelly Clarkson Cancel Her Las Vegas Residency This August?

Clarkson opened up about her family as she announced the cancellation of the remainder of her Las Vegas residency this August in a post on Instagram.

“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” she wrote. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”

The talk show host sincerely apologized to everyone who had bought tickets and expressed her gratitude for their kindness.

“I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows, and I so appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding,” she continued.

Clarkson still had five more Las Vegas shows left for August. Her next round of performances will begin in November 2025.

So far, details about Blackstock’s illness have remained under wraps. However, as Clarkson mentioned, he has been “ill” this past year; thus, she fully needs to be her children.

Blackstock and Clarkson share two kids, River and Remington.

Back in March, she also took some time off from The Kelly Clarkson Show and was absent from 10 episodes without giving any explanation.

At the time, sources said she took River and Remington to visit their dad, who was already sick then.

For starters, Blackstock and Clarkson tied the knot in 2013 and parted ways in 2020. The former couple had a tumultuous relationship following the divorce filing in June 2020, marked by a lengthy legal battle over their $10.4 million ranch in Montana, custody of their children, and Blackstock’s request for spousal support.

After two years, their divorce was finalized, with Clarkson receiving primary custody of the kids. Blackstock was granted to have the kids for one weekend every month.

The singer-songwriter also won ownership of the house, though she was ordered to pay Blackstock $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 2024.

Speaking about her divorce, Clarkson thanked her 2023 album Chemistry for serving as her “outlet” during a difficult time.

“I cannot express how appreciative I feel for having that kind of healthy outlet. Because the level of depression and things that come with divorce or grieving is extraordinarily hard,” she told People. “You feel alone, and it’s just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming.”
