Kelly Clarkson postponed her Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions – The Las Vegas Residency on the very day the show was about to kickoff last Friday.
But while the singer-songwriter revealed that the preparations and rehearsals for the event had affected her voice, sources said that she’s facing “hidden battles” that not everyone knows of.
As the sudden cancellation sparks concerns among fans, what’s really happening to Clarkson behind the camera?
What Happened to Kelly Clarkson?
Clarkson announced the cancellation of her Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace just 90 minutes before it was set to begin.
Sure, the last-minute announcement made a lot of fans upset, but a Vegas insider told Page Six that her dedication to giving her all in every performance has taken a serious toll on her health.
“She belts out every single note. She’s an incredibly powerful singer, but it takes its toll on her vocal cords and she’s come incredibly close to needing surgery before,” the insider revealed.
The tipster added that the first and arguably the most successful American Idol winner couldn’t “risk damaging her cords further.”
“She’s on thin ice,” they continued.
In addition, there’s e also speculation that her divorce from Brandon Blackstock may have affected Clarkson after citing “personal matters” when she took time off from NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show.
She was a no-show for several episodes and guests hosts like Andy Cohen stepped in to fill her spot.
“Kelly’s personal life is so insanely complicated…Kelly is fighting some serious hidden battles that very few people are privy to …it’s a source of emotional and therefore physical distress for her,” a second source said.
Clarkson has been open about the hardships she’s facing following her 2020 split from Blackstock after seven years of marriage and an ongoing legal battle.
“Just to be brutally honest, I did not handle [the divorce] well,” she told Apple Music in 2023.
Why Did Kelly Clarkson Postpone Her Las Vegas Residency?
Clarkson was already to set to kick off her Studio Sessions Las Vegas Residency on Friday but had to cancel the opening show due to health reasons.
“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” her statement read. “I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars. The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice.”
But fans don’t have to worry, though. She promised to be next weekend to show fans what she and her team have prepared for them.
“I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I an taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve,” she continued. “… I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”
Clarkson has been preparing for her Las Vegas residency since its announcement in February. The event is scheduled to run until November 15.
So, despite everything Clarkson is going through, she still promises to give her best to her fans.
