Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be the end of an era for many. It won't just be the end of this trilogy but the conclusion to a decades-long storyline that started in The Empire Strikes Back. While fans are a bit sad about this, they are hoping that we see some fan-favorite characters in future movies; maybe even their own spin-off film.
However, if this interview LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy had with Vanity Fair is anything to go by, they won't be doing too many solo character movies. In fact, they are avoiding the whole Marvel Studios method of building up individual characters and giving them their own movie/series. It's an interesting statement from Kennedy since every film studio under the sun is trying to make their own cinematic universe.
Kennedy said the following:
This might have been due to the box office disappointment that was Solo: A Star Wars Story. They were probably hoping to get more Han Solo movies out of that project but it didn't work out.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out this December.
