Kate Middleton became the new Princess of Wales following the untimely death of Queen Elizabeth on Sept. 8. This means that she is slowly following in her late mother-in-law's footsteps because Princess Diana was also known as the Princess of Wales years ago.
Mohamed Al-Fayed Warned Kate Middleton Against Marrying Into The Windsor Family
But according to Princess Diana's boyfriend's father, Mohamed Al-Fayed, Kate Middleton shouldn't let her guard down, especially now that she's becoming one of the most loved members of the royal family.
While speaking with Radar Online, Al-Fayed detailed a conversation that she had with Middleton years ago and said that she warned her against marrying Prince William. This wasn't because he had a problem with Prince William but because he had an issue with the Windsors.
Mohamed Al-Fayed Convinced The Royal Family Would Destroy Kate Middleton
Al-Fayed told Middleton that the Windsors or the royal family would destroy her one day. That's why he didn't want the mom of three to wed Prince William.
"Kate, just like Diana, has no idea the price you have to pay when you exchange vows with a Windsor. Prince William lived with me when he was a young boy, and I have seen him grow up to become a wonderful man. England should be proud he will be King. He has his mother's charm, and I can completely understand why Kate has fallen in love with him. But the price to pay will be too great. There is an albatross hanging around William's neck. It is having the last name, Windsor. The Windsors will fear her in the way they eventually feared Diana because she was so loved by the public, and because of that, they will do their utmost to destroy her," he said before Middleton, and Prince William tied the knot in 2011.
Princess Diana Would've Discouraged Kate Middleton From Marrying Prince William
However, Middleton still took the risk and wed Prince William. And even though it's been 11 years since they tied the knot, there's still no indication that the Windsors do not have her back.
Still, Al-Fayed insisted that if Princess Diana was still alive before Prince William and Middleton's royal wedding, she would also give the latter the same warning.
"But if she had been alive today, Diana would also be the first to caution Kate about marrying into this family. Ordinary rules no longer apply when it is the Windsor family. William will do his best to protect Kate, but that may not be good enough," he said.
Unfortunately, Princess Diana never had the opportunity to meet her daughter-in-law. But if she did, she would've been proud of her.
