Will Smith has seemingly been losing projects left and right following the Oscars controversy that he was involved in. Months ago, the Hancock actor made headlines after he slapped Chris Rock while the latter was on stage because of the comments that he made about Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Will Smith Could No Longer Appear In Saturday Night Live
Following the incident, Will Smith was banned from the Academy and from attending all Academy-related events. Now, there are reports that Smith will never be able to return to Saturday Night Live because of what he did.
"Smith will never ever be invited back to SNL after what he did to Chris. The show is a temple comedian, and no one wants him around anymore. Forget hosting, Will won't even be able to get a ticket to sit in the audience anymore. He's not welcome," a source told Radar Online.
Additionally, there are reportedly fears that Saturday Night Live will never be able to tap huge A-listers on the show if Smith makes an appearance on the program.
"Stars would rightly boycott the show if he was welcomed inside Studio 8H," the source said.
Will Smith Apologized To Chris Rock Multiple Times Following His Oscars Slap
Months after the controversial Oscars slap, Smith released a public apology addressed to Rock. In the video, the dad of two revealed that Rock wasn't ready to talk to him.
"I've reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he's not ready to talk. And when he is, he will reach out. So, I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk. I just didn't realize, and, you know, I wasn't thinking about how many people got hurt at that moment. You know, we had a great relationship. You know, Tony Rock was my man. And this is probably irreparable," Smith said.
Chris Rock Uses Will Smith Oscars Slap In His Comedy Shows
Rock has also commented on the issue on multiple occasions. In July, he used the Oscars slap as one of his materials for his show. In his bit, he referred to the Aladdin actor as "Suge Smith."
Earlier this month, reports swirled that Rock is still not ready to forgive Smith. During another one of his shows, he once again poked fun at the slap by saying that it hurt because Smith once played the role of Muhamad Ali in the 2001 film Ali.
