Kate Middleton and Prince William became the new Prince and Princess of Wales after Queen Elizabeth passed away. A body language expert noticed that the royal couple has become more tactile.
Kate Middleton And Prince William Sending A Message To The Public?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very tactile, unlike the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle always hold hands even when they are on official engagements.
Prince William and Kate Middleton seemed to have followed suit when they visited the Copper Box Arena, according to body language expert Judi James.
She pointed out how Middleton touched the back of her husband and seemed to make intimate poses with the heir to the throne.
"Some of these gestures do look similar to ones used regularly by Harry and Meghan though," James told Express. "Plus, the back-touch does seem to have a similar function of registering almost parental-looking support and loving reassurance."
Based on the way they behaved, James said the future king and queen consort "seem to have launched a new era of PDAs." She added that the direct heirs to the throne are initially expected to make their body language more formal or less natural, but they are showing otherwise.
They already have in mind how they want the public to see them, according to the expert.
"This is the couple signalling they want to be viewed as a strong and very loving team, both professionally and privately," James added.
What Did Kate Middleton Do That Get The Expert's Attention?
Upon arrival, Middleton was photographed placing a hand on her husband's back. James went on and analyzed Middleton's "subtle gestures."
"By slightly intensifying her touches and her non-verbal signals of loving appreciation, Kate also lets us know that there is no change in the status levels between them either," the expert claimed.
James added, "While Camilla tends to walk slightly behind Charles, watching and waiting for him to instigate the choreography, Kate shows a much more even-handed approach, where she is the one chatting a little more and placing an affectionate hand on William's back in a subtle gesture of dominance rather than the other way round."
The expert also added that Middleton's hand was seen in two spots on the heir to the throne's back, suggesting that the gesture isn't something that "only lasted a short moment."
In one pose, Middleton's hand was on Prince William's shoulder blades with her fingertips in proper contact. In another pose, her hand was in the middle of his back near his waist as she talked to the hosts.
