The lore of the upcoming Magic: The Gathering expansion is set in a Norse mythology-inspired plane with 10 realms, and each of them features a creature type tied to a dual-color pair.
In the second week of Kaldheim spoilers, Wizards of the Coast has revealed new nonbasic land cards that showcase these realms of Kaldheim. Each of these uncommon lands comes into play tap, adds one mana of a color associated with that realm, and has an activated ability that requires you to tap it and pay mana equivalent to its activation cost.
Here are the land cards revealed so far:
Littjara Mirrorlake
Gates of Istfell
Skemar Elderhall
Axgard Armory
Port of Karfell
Surtland Frostpyre
These land cards are definitely viable in Limited formats, but I wouldn't be surprised if I see some of them used in competitive Standard constructed decks.
Wizards has yet to reveal the rest of the nonbasic lands that feature the realms of Kaldheim, so watch for updates here on EpicStream as more Kaldheim spoilers come out.
Here are the 10 realms as well as the associated creature types and dual-color pairs:
Axgard: Dwarves (RW)
Bretagard: Humans (GW)
Gnottyold: Trolls (RG)
Immersturm: Demons (BR)
Istfell: Spirits (WU)
Karfell: Draugr (UB undead Viking zombies)
Littjara: Shapeshifters (GU)
Skemfar: Elves (BG Wood and Shadow Elves)
Starnheim: Valkyries (WB)
Surtland: Giants (UR Fire and Frost Giants)
Kaldheim is set to release on February 5, 2021 for tabletop, and Jan. 28 on Magic Arena and Magic Online. The set will be followed by Strixhaven: School of Mages, which is set to release sometime in Spring 2021.
