From Prince Phillip’s verdict on Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle to losing King Charles’ trust, the royal family’s former butler detailed the drama in his bombshell book, The Royal Butler, covering how everything unfolded.
What Exactly Has the Ex-Royal Butler Revealed About the State of the Royal Family?
Former Buckingham Palace butler Grant Harrold spilled the beans on his years of observing the royal dramas behind closed doors in his bombshell of a book, The Royal Butler.
Harrold, who had been King Charles’s butler between 2004 and 2011, was determined to tell the truth.
“The king doesn’t trust Harry, because of what Harry has said,” Grant told the news outlet, Page Six. “He worried that he would use it to his advantage. And he has.”

“He’s done what household members typically do and spilled the beans. It’s a big thing for the family to have one of their own do this,” the former butler said, “They were all so close, and to see that relationship completely destroyed, I do not see them coming back from it.”
Prince Harry is in the UK, rumored to have an audience with the king, but Harrold warned that his podcast with Meghan, book, and TV deals won’t help them regain the royal family’s trust and entry back to the circle.
“If they reconcile, then fall out again, what’s to say there won’t be another book, Netflix series, or interview about it?”
“As soon as Meghan came into his life, everything changed,” Harrold, though, reminisced about how ‘inseparable’ Harry and William used to be, and seems to believe that Meghan was a significant contributing factor to the royal rift.
“It could be that Harry had his own awakening and suddenly decided he didn’t like the organization, but the problem is that Meghan was with him when it happened,” Harrold continued, “The biggest change in Harry’s life is Meghan.”
How Much Had Prince Harry Really Changed Since He Married Meghan Markle?

Harrold was “genuinely shocked” that the close brothers fell out. “There must be something deeper going on that we’re not being told.”
Prince Harry once wrote a dig at his brother, Prince William, in his memoir called Spare, where he was “physically attacked” and “knocked to the floor” in 2019, even as Harry referred to him as his “beloved brother and arch-nemesis” in the book.
The former butler recounted the time Markle would rather have “lunch with friends” than tend to her engagement duties, “That’s not how it works. You can’t change it. She obviously thought she could come in and do her thing, and you can’t.”
Harrold ultimately noted that Meghan may have gone into the organization and “assumed” that Disney princesses were the standard, but it isn’t. “When you join the royal family, you are given rules and protocols to follow.”
