Jurassic World Rebirth is paying tribute to the original novel's author, Michael Crichton, as it features a scene taken straight from the source material that was cut from the original 1993 film.

The new installment in the Jurassic franchise features a brand new story and characters set after the events of Dominion. However, it didn't stop from referencing the original novel that started it all.

An infamous raft scene from the original Jurassic Park novel will finally be included in Jurassic World Rebirth after it was cut in the 1993 film.

The scene involves Dr. Alan Grant taking a raft in the river channels on Isla Nublar while being chased by a swimming T-rex.

While parts of that sequence were shot in the original 1993 Steven Spielberg film, it was ultimately scrapped because of budgetary reasons.

"It was 1992 and nobody knew if the CGI was going to work, much less be able to make a dinosaur swim," screenwriter David Koepp explained to EW.

"It was already expensive enough and with unproven technology, so it didn't work. Water was still, in '92, a big challenge. As you can see, it's not anymore."

Fortunately, after more than 30 years, the scene is finally going to be included in Jurassic World Rebirth thanks to the advanced VFX technology, where it is easier to make a swimming dinosaur happen.

This time around, it's the Delgado family who has to face a swimming T-rex while being in an inflatable raft.

Koepp shared that Crichton's original novel and The Lost World were "extremely influential" when he wrote the script for Jurassic World Rebirth.

"When I reached the point in the draft where I was writing the raft sequence, I had the book here and I was typing here [gestures they were side by side]. That was pretty much straight out of the book," he said.

"I found scenes, I found monologues, I found inspiration and thoughts that were a big part of this movie."

The raft scene was not the only moment from the books that is included in Rebirth. Koepp also added a scene from The Lost World where a Jeep careens down a mountain as it's being attacked by raptors.

He said, "I use bits of that. There's a Jeep careening down a mountain [in Rebirth] and menaced by, at first, a Mutadon."
