Based on the reactions to the anime and the latest manga chapters, Jujutsu Kaisen continues to be incredibly popular. Now, a new report states that Jujutsu Kaisen is the world’s most popular anime.

Since the first anime season was released back in 2020, Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the most popular shonen series in Japan and internationally.

Aside from the ever-increasing manga sales figures and the second season’s Blu-ray sales, this new report essentially crowns the series as today’s biggest anime, inheriting Attack on Titan’s previous position.

The Attack on Titan comparison may be a bit surprising, but it makes sense in the context of the new report.

Recently, Guinness World Records reported that Jujutsu Kaisen is now the world’s most popular anime. This is based on info from Parrot Analytics, a data science firm.

The report mentions that Gege Akutami and MAPPA’s series has a global demand rating that’s 71.2 times greater than an average show.

While the report doesn’t state other relevant numbers, it did clarify that demand rating is based on data points such as streams, social media engagement, and research actions.

Since 2020, Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan has been the world’s most popular anime.

Given that the show ended in late 2023, coupled with the fact that Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season was a huge hit, it’s no surprise that Attack on Titan has now been overtaken.

That’s not the only series that Jujutsu Kaisen leaped over, as the report also states that it is more popular globally than One Piece at this point.

Anyone on social media probably won’t be surprised by this. After all, Jujutsu Kaisen was inescapable during the second half of 2023.

After every episode, the series regularly becomes a trending topic on X and Reddit. Thus, it makes sense that season 3 was announced shortly after the season 2 finale.

MAPPA will return to produce season 3, and it is expected to cover the Culling Game arc. For now, there’s no word yet on a release date.

Given that there’s no trailer yet, chances are that fans will have to wait until 2025 before the anime returns.

In the meantime, the manga continues to get new chapters every week in Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan, and via Manga Plus internationally.
