Jonathan Majors has weighed in on the recent news regarding Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom replacing Kang as the villain of the next Avengers movies.
The former MCU actor was notably fired by Marvel Studios late last year after he was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment. Since then, fans have been wondering whether the role of Kang will be recast.
Last weekend, it was officially announced that Downey will be making his MCU return as Doctor Doom, who will now be the main villain of the Avengers movies instead of Kang.
Jonathan Majors Addresses Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom Replacing Kang
Majors addressed Downey's Doctor Doom replacing Kang as the main villain of the next Avengers movies during a brief interview.
He admitted that he was "heartbroken" over the news but acknowledged that Doom will also be an equally "wicked" antagonist.
"Yeah, heartbroken. Of course. I love Kang. Doctor Doom is wicked, though," the former MCU star said.
When the interviewer noted that Downey also had a troubled past before he starred in the MCU, Majors responded: "I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love and being allowed to work [his] art and be creative at that level. I didn’t really get that."
Despite all of that, Majors is still open to return as Kang if ever Marvel asks him. "Hell yeah! Hell yeah! I love him. I love Kang. If that’s what the fans want, and that’s what Marvel wants then let’s roll. Hell yeah," he said.
It's not surprising to hear that the former MCU actor is "heartbroken" over the news since he was really passionate about Kang back when he was still playing the character.
At this point, it is very unlikely that Marvel will ask him to reprise the role anytime as they are eager to move forward with a brand new direction and a villain and actor that would resonate with the audience better.
