The upcoming film will bring back Joaquin Phoenix to reprise his Oscar-winning role. This time around, he is starring alongside Lady Gaga, who will be taking on the iconic villain and Joker's love interest Harley Quinn.

A few months ago, the teaser trailer was released which gave fans their very first glimpse at the romance-filled storyline between Phoenix and Gaga's characters and their maniacal adventure in Arkham Asylum.

Joker: Folie à Deux Releases New Trailer

Today, the new trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux was released and it gave fans another exciting look at the highly-anticipated sequel.

It was also announced today that it will be premiering in competition at this year's Venice Fim Festival. The first film notably won the coveted Golden Lion prize.

The trailer gave us our full preview at Joker and Harley Quinn's mayhem-filled romance and their musical numbers, particularly with Phoenix singing the Stevie Wonder classic "For Once in My Life."

The previously released teaser didn't show any glimpses at the film's musical elements, but they are finally emphasizing it this time around and it looks surprisingly fitting to the film's dark tone.

We also got our first look at Brendan Gleeson's character, who seems to be a prison guard who oversees Joker in the Arkham Asylum.

It is yet again another promising look at the sequel, which has been anticipated by fans for the past few years due to its unusual creative choice and the curiosity about seeing Phoenix and Gaga star together.

Most fans are hoping that the sequel will live up to the hype and quality of the first film, but the trailers are showing signs that fans are in for a wild ride.

Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled for release in theaters on October 4.
