It's been two years since Peacemaker made his last live-action appearance in the DC Universe, but now that season 2 is right around the corner, Peacemaker star John Cena recently explained why the series took too long to get here.
The Peacemaker Star Opens Who Called the Shots At Season 2 Renewal
While Peacemaker experienced a long delay from returning for season 2, John Cena recently shared that DC fans may not have to wait longer for it.
According to the Jackpot! star, Peacemaker's new release date could be "right around the corner."
"What you got to understand and keep in mind is I'm the guy who plays Peacemaker," Cena explained, "So when we come out with a show and it's the No. 1 show on Max, and finally, we take a character who is supposed to be dead, bring Peacemaker back to life, and people enjoy the universe and want to see more of it."
However, Cena noted that not everything works out the way they have been intentionally planned, "Then you have a shift in the structure of who is calling the shots over at DC."
In this case, here's what DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran told him.
As Cena said, James and Peter called him to say, "'You know what, we want to take some time to do this right. But it's just going to take a little time.'"
Although Peacemaker season 2 took too long to get here, Cena couldn't be proud enough, "It seems like forever ago, now that we're filming every day, it seems it will be just right around the corner that we're watching season 2."
While nothing has been confirmed yet on what Peacemaker season 2 could be about, it is currently scheduled for filming and set to debut on Max at a later date, specifically after James Gunn releases Superman: Legacy in July 2025.
