John Boyega recently showed his support for Amandla Stenberg in the aftermath of the cancellation of The Acolyte.
Last week, it was officially announced that Lucasfilm decided to not move forward with the second season of the High Republic-set Star Wars series. A lot of fans were upset when the news arrived.
Since then, there has been a showcase of support for the people involved in the series including its main star Stenberg. A campaign has also been launched that would hopefully convince Lucasfilm and Disney to reverse their decision.
John Boyega Reacts to The Acolyte Cancellation
Boyega, who starred as Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, showed his support for Stenberg following the cancellation news on The Acolyte.
He commented with a gif of Han Solo doing a salute on one of Stenberg's recent posts on Instagram.
Fans saw Boyega's comment as him welcoming Stenberg to the club and expressing his support for her amid the unfortunate news that she received.
Given that Stenberg has also been receiving hate comments from toxic fans since the cancellation news came, it was also a way for Boyega to show the actress that she is not alone and he is supporting her all the way.
After all, Boyega also experienced a similar situation during his tenure in the sequel trilogy and he has publicly called out the toxic fans who participated in the attack.
Ahmed Best also showed his support for the actress in a recent post on his Instagram. He was also attacked by toxic fans due to his polarizing performance as Jar Jar Binks in the prequel trilogy.
