From the Upside Down to Earth-616, rumors have it that Marvel Studios has its sights set on Stranger Things star Joe Keery to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
While the claim isn’t new and first started spreading in August 2025, it has once again gained traction following his new look at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards and a recent claim from well-known Marvel insider Daniel Richtman.
Will Joe Keery Join the MCU?

Richtman revealed that Keery is on Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige’s radar to potentially play an undisclosed role in the MCU.
While the specific character hasn’t been revealed yet, with the franchise heading toward a “reset” after Avengers: Secret Wars, it wouldn’t be surprising if the actor becomes part of the new generation of heroes.
Feige previously confirmed that a major structural shift is coming, aimed at streamlining the timeline, introducing new characters like the X-Men with fresh actors, and focusing on higher-quality, less interconnected stories to create a fresh start for the next chapter following the Multiverse Saga’s conclusion.
With iconic MCU characters such as Iron Man and Captain America expected to be recast, Feige appears to be going all-in on this new super-powered lineup.
As Marvel Studios typically holds general meetings with numerous actors, Keery, who’s also known as Djo in the music industry, may be among those being considered.
What Role Might Joe Keery Play in the MCU?

While nothing has been confirmed yet regarding Keery’s potential MCU casting, as both Marvel Studios and the actor himself have remained mum, fans have been quick to speculate about the possible roles he could play.
For one, there are assumptions that he may be the next Cyclops. Sure, James Marsden is set to reprise his iconic X-Men role in Avengers: Doomsday, but with Feige’s plans for a reset, a younger actor could take on the role in the upcoming Marvel Studios X-Men reboot directed by Jake Schreier.
There have also been numerous rumors surrounding the new X-Men film, including supposed plans to focus on villains such as Mister Sinister and Apocalypse.
However, if there’s one character fans are strongly suggesting for Keery, it’s Harry Osborn, who may soon appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland.
If this happens, it would mark the first appearance of Osborn in the MCU. While the character is a central figure in Spider-Man comics and has appeared in previous live-action adaptations, he has yet to be part of Holland’s Spider-Man films.
As Brand New Day is expected to reset Peter Parker’s journey following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the film may adapt elements of the Brand New Day comic arc, which redefines Peter’s personal and superhero life.
In that storyline, Harry plays a major role as Peter’s best friend, with ties to the Osborn family and the villainous Green Goblin.
With another Stranger Things star, Joseph Quinn, having joined the MCU as the Human Torch in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Keery could be the next actor from the hit Netflix series to make the leap to Marvel.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently set for release on July 31, 2026, while Avengers: Doomsday is slated to arrive on December 18, 2026.
