Marvel Comics had piqued the interest of fans when it looked like they were teasing Spider-Man 4 for the comics, then everyone got the rug pulled up from under them when it was revealed to be a countdown. Now Marvel has announced what they were counting down to—a new comic run for Spider-Man from J.J. Abrams and his son.

We don't really get that much of the story, but Abrams does confirm that there will be a new villain introduced in the book named "Cadaverous." The art will also come from Sara Pichelli who is probably best known for illustrating the Miles Morales run of Ultimate Spider-Man.
We know that Abrams is already great at "starting" franchises, and it's interesting to see what he has in store for Spider-Man. Admittedly, you can't help but smell the nepotism when he made this announcement with his son. Young Henry Abrams is 21-years-old and he gets to write a Spider-Man comic at his age? Sure it could turn out amazing, but I imagine a lot of people (myself included) really envying how lucky he is being J.J. Abrams' son. People can work for decades and not get that kind of recognition.
I guess you just have to play the hand you're dealt; boy was his hand amazing.
Spider-Man #1 comes out this September.
