Tom Cruise has found himself in the galaxy far, far away, as it was recently revealed that he shot one of the scenes in Star Wars: Starfighter.
Production recently wrapped on the highly anticipated upcoming Star Wars movie that is directed by Deadpool & Wolverine's Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling. Fans have been looking forward to seeing what they have in store for this new installment in the franchise.
As we wait for more details, an exciting behind-the-scenes update has emerged as Ethan Hunt himself apparently filmed one of the film's pivotal scenes.
How Tom Cruise Ended up Filming a Scene in Star Wars: Starfighter

In a recent report from The New York Times, it was revealed that Tom Cruise visited the set of Star Wars: Starfighter and ended up working as a camera operator in one of the scenes.
The Hollywood A-list star was present to observe how the upcoming Star Wars movie is being filmed. However, after Shawn Levy jokingly suggested that he should shoot a scene, Cruise accepted the challenge.
"Cruise just wanted to watch, he told them, but Levy, setting up a scene involving a lightsaber duel in the water, suggested the star jump on one of the cameras. He’d meant it as a joke. But there was Cruise, wading into the muddy pond, holding the camera like a pro," the reporter recalled.
Levy shared, "Last week, Steven Spielberg was here. And now Tom Cruise is wielding a camera, ruining his very nice shoes."
Cruise filmed a scene behind the camera that involves a lightsaber duel in a muddy pond.
The reporter added, "Tom Cruise was up to his ankles in mud and pond water. He wore a look of great concentration as he stooped over a digital camera, trying to frame the perfect shot. Shawn Levy glanced around in slight disbelief."
"Now, when you see the movie, you’ll know that part of it was shot by Tom," Levy said of Cruise's behind-the-scenes work. "I mean, how cool is that?"
No details were provided on which characters or actors were involved in the said lightsaber duel scene that was being filmed with Cruise's involvement behind the camera.
What to Expect in Star Wars: Starfighter
The plot details regarding Star Wars: Starfighter are currently under wraps, but it is a standalone movie that is set in a timeline that has never been explored in Star Wars before.
The cast includes Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Amy Adams, Aaron Pierre, Mia Goth, Matt Smith, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings.
"I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally," Levy said in the announcement.
"Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime."
Aside from directing, Levy also serves as producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy. Jonathan Tropper wrote the script. The film is slated for release in theaters on May 28, 2027.
