It has been some time since James Gunn was active on social media. However, the Suicide Squad 2 director is finally becoming more visible after he was rehired by Disney to helm Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn's latest Twitter post is all about his upcoming project Brightburn and it looks like Star Wars: Episode IX actor Mark Hamill is supporting the filmmaker.
Gunn took to Twitter to share the extended trailer for Brightburn, which explores the possibilities of an alien child with superhero abilities turning out to be evil instead of good. It's a lengthy trailer clocking in at three minutes and 31 seconds but people are loving it. One of the trailer's fans turned out to be Luke Skywalker himself.
"Can't WAIT to see this!!!" Hamill wrote. Needless to say, fans are thrilled that Gunn is getting support from the Jedi Master and wondering if Hamill will end up joining the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
It was previously reported that Hamill might be joining the third GOTG film where he is expected to play Rocket Raccoon's creator. It's an interesting role indeed and we're hoping that an announcement will be made soon.
Gunn also shared the new poster for Brightburn, which he is producing.
The synopsis for Brightburn reads as follows:
"What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? In this horrific take on the classic superhero trope, a couple (Elizabeth Banks and David Denman) adopts a baby who came from the stars. While they attempt to raise the boy (Jackson A. Dunn) to use his powers for good, an evil begins to grow inside that he unleashes."
Brightburn will premiere on May 24.
